wants and objectived...what what!

  1. 1. Really liked how Cassie paired us together with another person who closely related to our character. So I was paired with Jack who is Jacob, my/Jewel's father.
    2. Really wish Blove was there so we could really understand what Jewel and Beatrice are together. I am still confused how exactly Jewel wants to feel about Beatrice.
    3. Talking with Jack and Cassie, the relationship between Jacob and Jewel really came to be. That was really cool. Some of the specific details that I remember talking about Jewel was how I don't even really want to drink; People just shove flasks into my face...and since it is there...why not drink. We also talked about my mother a lot. I thought she was a strong independent woman but I think I held it against her that she just settled down with her high school sweetheart. I think that's maybe why I don't want to settle with anyone. I was saddened that she wanted me to kneel at her bedside instead of sitting up like a woman. ...So Jewel is a bit of a feminist. woop. At this point in the play it's only been a year but I think I have strayed away so far that all I want is for my father an myself to come together again. Granted I was never very close with Jacob; I feel that at the end of this play there is hope for Jacob and Jewel to become close or have an understanding of each other's toils.

  2. What Emily and I discussed with Cassie....

Gabriel is a ladies man, a playuh..if you will...prior to meeting Sam through the smoke, he had not had any serious relationships, just a shit ton of groupies. In other words, people who thought he was totally hot singing up there on the stage who weren't exactly interested in who he really was and what he really wanted. Samantha , however, turned out to be the most genuine lay Gabriel has ever had. Instead of merely fucking her in the alley like he does with most girls, he actually brought her home to show her his less put together side of life. His vulnerability.

Soon after or during the weeks surrounding their wedding, Sammy was pregnant! And the couple began making preparations for their new baby boy, baby showers galore! But unfortunately, he died, and there was nothing to fill the space in their lives that they had cleared for Zach's arrival. Cribs to sell, gifts to return, and an emptiness enveloped them both. 2 1/4 years later, they attempted once again to conceive a child, succeeding only in a child who was not the Zachary they once made. And so they grew apart. Drifting farther and farther away from each other by the means of a complete lack of communication. It was too painful, the wound was not healing, too raw to touch.

Gabriel lost the spring in his step, much like Sinatra's more depressing album phase ( "Where are you?" & " The wee small hours of the morning" ), only there was no resurgence, at least not yet. Until he met AAM, who he believed was the missing piece to the puzzle of his life, and so he constructed his existence, and his wife's routines around her.

And now Gabriel and Samantha have drifted so far apart that they can barely see each other, a distance lantern on the horizon, a dying star or a fading memory. And it will take all the efforts of both parties to find their way back to each other.

  3. HEY EVERYONE!!!

So I wasn't able to meet with Cassie and get paired up to talk with all of the other characters that mine interact with HOWEVER! There are some wants, need and desires I think about from time to time...but those aren't for you to hear cause they are sexual and private ;). I do have a few things I have thought about in regards to the characters though! For Erik I feel that he really likes Jewel and for him to be hooking up with her is something he has been wanting from the time they met. I think that he wants something more than just a physical release and when he hears that she is not on the same page (because he is the 3rd guy she has been with this week) it is hard for him and upsetting. And I think that he really dislikes Beatrice for cock blocking him. The Young Man is similar in that he is genuinely into Samantha and wants to find something real that he can hold onto. Im sure he has tried before with other women both online and in person but for him he believes she can be different and when it doesn't turn out the way he had hoped (and the way she had hoped) I think he is let down but also a little guilty that he couldn't give her what she wanted. Even though the sex was gooooooood. And just for shits and gigs, I think that the child just wants some sugar for that quick rush that feels so great while its happening but there is always that crash after that you forget about while you have that high then you hit a wall and you are down till the next high. Its a little symbolic of what the other two characters are going through in terms of finding something that feels good and hoping it will last a while only to find that they crash and are lower than they were before. And the waiter....well, he is a sassy busy hot mess that loves when people watch him and gets a pleasure in not being available when Samantha tries to get his attention. And when he goes to take her order I feel that she is a bit impressed with his upbeat positive sort of aura he has about him and she is jealous of that but not in a harsh way if that makes any sense. Hope that word vomit was informative =D

  4. I've been feeling pretty lost for some of this rehearsal process, so talking to Cassie was so, so helpful. Talking with Kai about our backstory really helped to solidify how we managed to grow so far apart while sleeping in the same bed. Talking about the night we first met was great because it made me realize just how much instant attraction needs to be there, how strong that scene needs to be, because our connecting at the end of the play only means something if the audience can really see that we're coming back to a place of love, not finding it.
I realized when talking with Diane that the relationship between Sam and Jewel is so much simpler then I was making it- I need her. I want to save her, I want to mother her, I want to help her, I'm fascinated by her, but bottom line, the strongest choice is to NEED her.
